TAG TIME!!!!

So I have been MIA lately because I have been super duper busy with classes but I thought that I would do a simple tag.  It isn't really beauty or fashion related but I am going to do it anyway.

Shannon wants...

Rules:
enter your name followed but wants and write down the first 5 results that make sense

1.  Control of Gary
2.  Better run production
3.  You to hold on tight to your dreams
4.  Justice in sex tape case

Well that was interesting, I had to scroll down a little to find non duplicates.  I dont really understand #2 but my favorite has to be #5.

BLUSH DUPE

So my favorite blush of all time is X-Rocks from the Neo Sci Fi collection from MAC that came out summer of '08. I found this blush at a Cosmetic Company Outlet and I know it tends to pop up for sale every once in a while at Allcosmeticswholesale.com. For those of you who don't have a CCO near you or don't feel like shopping for it online, I have found a near exact dupe that is from the permanent collection at MAC. That blush is called Flirt&Tease.

Both of these blushes are a nice mauve color with a slight simmer to it and they are also both sheer tone shimmer blushes.  They appear to look different in the photos but when you look at them in person and swatch them, the only noticeable difference is that Flirt&Tease is a little more cranberry.  The nice thing about this dupe is that it is easier to sheer out than X-rocks.  X-rocks is a little bit more pigmented so you need a light hand when applying it.  I also believe that Flirt&Tease is more universal and is good for all skin tones.  If you have darker skin it is easy to build up color and if you have fair skin, it is easy to apply without looking like a clown.  If you have been lusting after X-rocks, I suggest checking this dupe out!

PERFECT LIPGLOSSES FOR FALL

So I am a girl that doesn't wear alot of lipgloss, especially in the summer because I get all hot and my face gets sweaty so I end up wiping everything off.  However, when fall hits, I am more likely to break out the gloss because I don't sweat as much and my hair is usually out of my face.  So here are a few ideas of glosses that are great to wear during the fall months.

  • NUDE
Nude lip glosses are great all year round but I think especially for fall.  Since summer just ended you should still have a little bit of a tan so you don't get completely washed out when you go nude on your lips.  A nude gloss is a great way to emphasize your other features.  During fall I like to play up my eye makeup and make it more dramatic so pairing nude lips is a great way not to look over done.

                                                              MAC C-thru
    MAC Young Thing
 * No, you arent seeing double, these glosses are slightly different in color but I posted both of them because they are great examples of the perfect nude gloss.  However, one is limited edition and one is not and since they are similiar enough, if you don't have the LE gloss, you can find the other at your local MAC.

  • NUDE PINK
During fall, you dont want to have bright pink lips.  That is a summer thing but if you find yourself partial to pink just make sure you find one that is muted.

                                                                    MAC Boybait

*This a great nude pink lipgloss and the great thing about it is that its a creamsheen glass.  This formulation of lipglass by MAC is less sticky that regular lipglass so those of you who steer clear of sticky icky gloss, you might want to give these a try.

  • GOLD/AMBER
I'm loving the metallic lipgloss trend that comes and goes with fall.  Having a pinky gloss that has a slight gold or amber shimmer to it is beautiful and matches the feel of fall perfectly.  It reminds me of the changing leaves.

                                                              Bare Minerals - Wild Honey

*This is an example of the perfect pink gloss with amber shimmer and it is available at ULTA

  • PURPLE BRONZE
With fall we tone down the colors and tend to use deeper hues of lipsticks and glosses.  One of my favorites is this color.  I think that this is a color that doesn't work for everyone, but if you have a darker/tan skin tone you should be able to pull it off.

                                                               Chanel - #19 Blizzard

*This is a great purple-bronze shade but it is quite shimmery so if you dont like sparkle this might not be the gloss for you

  • RED
Red lipstick is very festive and you see alot of it towards the end of fall, when we start to transition into winter. This is the color most people stay away from because it is very bold.  If you are scared of trying red lipstick, try it in gloss form.  Virtually anyone can pull off red gloss and the great thing about it is you can tone it down and sheer it out if you arent feeling daring enough to go full blown red.

                                                                       MAC Russian Red

* Yes they make the famous Russian Red lipstick by MAC in gloss form.  This is my favorite red gloss and if you want to tone it down, just simple mix it with a clear gloss or you can lightly apply it with your finger to make it look more like a stain than a gloss.

***UNLESS SPECIFICALLY NOTED, ALL GLOSSES LISTED ARE PERMANENT COLORS AND SHOULD STILL BE AVAILABLE

PRODUCT RAVE

                                             PHYTO Phytojoba Intense Hydrating Mask

So I thought I would do a quick review of a product I purchased about 2 months ago. Lately I have been on a healthy hair kick, trying to get my hair to be in better shape.  I often have neglected my hair in the past being it is so thick and unmanageable, sometimes I swear it has a mind of its own.  So now that I want to have healthy hair, I decided to hit up my local beauty store and see what kind of hair masks they had and stumbled upon the phytojoba mask on the clearance table (mind you it was only on sale because they stopped carrying the line). This product is SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!!  I mean it isnt magical, no hair mask is.  You need to use it over a period of time to see the results but after the last month and a half my hair is much more hydrated throughout and the ends are no longer brittle.  To give you more info on this product, it has a lemony scent to it (sort of like cleaning products but I still like it) and is rather thick so you don't need alot of it.  You just slather it on your hair and leave it on for about 20 minutes max (i recommend taking a bath so you can relax why you wait).  Also, you only need to use it up to twice a week.

This product is avaible at Sephora for about $38 so if you are interested i def suggest that you go ask the makeup artist for a sample and try it out before you buy and see if you like it.  Enjoy!  : )

Things I Am Currently Obsessed With

So I am new to the blog world so I thought I would start off by sharing some of my current beauty faves.  As the seasons change, the things I like change right along with them.  Fall is my absolute favorite season and I am lucky enough to live in a state where I get the full fall experience.  The weather here in good ole nebraska starts to change, the leaves start to fall, the temperature starts to drop and the days get much shorter.  Some of my favorite things about fall include boots, brown leather, pumpkin patches, pumpkin spice candles and (while I am on the topic of pumpkins) everyones fav, the Starbucks pumpkin spice latte.  When September hits and its time to hang up the flip flops and tank tops, I also must put away the summer makeup and sweet light perfumes.

CURRENT FALL BEAUTY LOVES:

  • Laura Mercier Creme de Pistache Body Cream

I absolutely can not rave about this stuff enough.  As you can see, I am already half way through this jar.  The smell of this lotion is divine, I can't even count how many times people have stopped me to ask what perfume I am wearing.  This stuff makes my skin so smooth and smell so good!  If you are looking for a lotion that is a bit heavier for those months when your skin starts to get dry and splotchy, you definetly need to pop in to your nearest Laura Mercier counter.

  • Laura Mercier Creme de Pistache Body Scrub

Along with my beloved Pistache body creme, I also have the body scrub.  It smells exactly like the lotion (no suprise there) but is an awesome exfoiliator.  It sloughs off dead skin and leaves it baby smooth.  I will warn those of you who have sensitive skin, it is rather abrasive and grainy but I have tough skin so I haven't had a problem with it.

  • MAC's Bite of an Apple Blush

This blush has amazing pigmentation. During the fall season, I find myself gravitating towards deeper shades of mauve and dark pinks/reds for my blush colors.  I wasn't crazy about this MAC collection but when I saw photos for this blush I knew I had to check it out.  It gives a nice rosey flush to the cheeks.

  • MAC's X-rocks Blush

This blush is my fav mauve color.  I have to admit when I first saw this blush at my CCO I was a bit intimadated but after I swatched it I knew it was going to be a favorite.  I feel so edgey when I wear this blush and it also makes me look like I have more of a tan.  FYI it is a sheer tone shimmer blush so it is easier to pull off than it appears.

  • Neutral Nail Colors

I love how neutral gray, cream and tan nail polishes look against skin that still has a faint summer glow.  They look best on short, round shaped nails.  I feel slightly sophisticated when my nails look like the photo above : )

  • Liquid Keratin Deep Conditioner

This stuff is the best for those of us who have thick, fine, and frizzy hair.  The smell takes some getting used to but it works wonders to tame the frizz.  After one day of using this my hair is so much softer and appears to be less damaged.

  • Lollia Wish Perfume

This perfume has a nice warm scent perfect for fall.  It has notes of cinnamon, jasmine, Amber and Vanilla Bean.  If I had to describe this scent in one word, I would say hippy.  This is what I would imagine a modern day hippy to be wearing.  But don't let me scare you by saying that, it smells nothing like the traditional patcholi.
